SHIATSU therapy
“The Heart of Shiatsu is pure maternal affection.”
- Tokujiro Namikoshi
I discovered Shiatsu during my honeymoon in Kyoto, Japan.
At the end of the session, the Japanese lady put her hand on my belly and said the universal word “stress”. That is all she said.
A year later, I started my own journey into becoming a shiatsu therapist. I learned and felt how Ki energy (breath of life) that flows through our bodies via 12 channels, known as meridians, feed us on a psychological, emotional and spiritual level.
With life’s ups and downs, the meridians get blocked, energy stagnates, causing short-term crises and long-term chronic conditions.
As Tara Brach puts it so simply, our issues are in our tissues.
Through compassionate touch on acupressure points, Shiatsu unblocks energy channels, liberates the flow of energy and strengthens your natural ability to heal and balance.
By liberating your Life-Energy, Shiatsu liberates you to move gently and bravely towards your True North.
The Benefits
Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience that can reduce tension and increase vitality. It can help you if you are suffering from conditions such as insomnia, stress, chronic fatigue, overwhelm, self-doubt, depression and anxiety, burn-out, indigestion, joint inflammation, etc.
You will likely come away feeling more grounded, energised, and aligned with what is right for you. Shiatsu is particularly powerful when experienced in conjunction with Coaching.
The Experience
You will lie on a comfortable futon, fully clothed. If you’d like to, you are free to share any physical or psychological difficulties with me before we start.
I start my sessions with gentle pressing movements on your belly area to connect with your energy levels; I listen and determine where further work is needed.
Based on where your energy blockages are, I’ll gently touch certain acupressure points to restore flow and balance.

FAQs
-
Each person’s journey is different and unique.
It is important to note that Shiatsu therapy is preventive and so a regular practice is recommended.
In a crisis, I would recommend a session per week during that phase. If not, I would recommend once a month.
-
Because Shiatsu is performed through clothing, I invite you to wear light clothing (no jeans).
-
Unfortunately coaching and shiatsu are not refundable.
